Awards Deadlines

All nomination packages for the Robbins “Excellence in Teaching” must be submitted to your District Councilor (DC) by February 1. District and Society-level Robbins Awards will be presented in the fall. All nomination packages for the Chiu “Outstanding Faculty Advisor” awards must be submitted to your DC by February 1, during even-numbered years only. The Chiu Award will also be presented in the fall. The Larsen “Outstanding Service” Award nomination package may be submitted at any time to the Office of the Executive Director for further consideration.

Undergraduate Scholarship and Graduate Fellowship applicants must be members of Chi Epsilon to be considered for these awards. Undergraduate students may apply for a graduate fellowship award, provided they will be enrolled as a graduate student at the time of the award. Students applying for a fellowship should not also apply for a scholarship as only one award is allowed.

Faulty Advisor (FA) emails top three scholarships and all fellowships to DC
 * FA informs candidates of their current status

DC verifies required photo is on file with the OED
 * DC compiles all scholarship, fellowship, Robbins and Chiu nomination packages for the district and submits to DSC for review and ranking.

April 15

DSC completes review and ranking of all scholarship, fellowship, Robbins and Chiu nomination packages for the district and submits results to DC.

April 30

DC emails top three district scholarship applicants and top district fellowship applicant to OED
* DC informs candidates of their current status

DC emails top district Robbins nominee to the OED
* DC emails top Chiu award nominee to the OED 

May 15

OED transmits top scholarship and fellowship applications to Finalist Selection Committee (FSC) for review and ranking
OED transmits all district-level recipients of Robbins Award to FSC for review and ranking
OED transmits all Chiu Award nominees to FSC for review and ranking

July 15

FSC(s) complete review and ranking of all scholarships, fellowships, Robbins and Chiu application / nomination packages and submits results to OED

August 1

Executive Director compiles and ranks FSC data. All candidates informed of status.
 * Ten $3,500 Scholarships and Ten $2,000 Scholarships
 * Three $3,500 Fellowships
 * One $500 stipend with a plaque for both Robbins and Chiu Awards
