E. MEMBERSHIPS

I. CHAPTER HONOR MEMBER:

  • Consider your candidate carefully. Please see Article 1, Section 4., of the Bylaws and Article VIII (D) of PAROP for qualifications. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT QUALIFY!
  • A candidate shall possess a minimum of ten years experience as a registered professional engineer.
  • A candidate may already be, or may not be, a member of Chi Epsilon.
  • Prepare a brief narrative biographical sketch of your candidate's career, including the state and number of years as a registered P.E.,
  • Submit this (with a letter from the chapter stating that a ¾ vote of the chapter is in favor of the candidate), to your District Councillor with the request that he obtain approval from the National Council. You should also send the candidate's resumé as backup information.
  • You should not inform the candidate that he/she is being considered for Chapter Honor Member until after you receive a letter of approval from the National Council.
  • A photo of the proposed CHM must accompany the application or follow soon after for The Transit.
  • Under normal circumstances, only one Chapter Honor Member is approved for any one initiation. You can, however, submit persons for upcoming semesters.

II. FACULTY MEMBER:

  • Consider your candidate carefully. See Article 1, Section 3 (e) of the Bylaws and
    Article VIII (E) of PAROP for required qualifications.
  • The candidate's resumé, clearly showing the candidate's required qualifications, also should be sent to your District Councillor. National Council approval must be obtained before including the name of the candidate on your order forms.
  • The name of the candidate must be listed on Forms 1-A, 1-B and 2, and pay same fees as a student.

III. GRADUATE CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT:>>>>> DO NOT OVERLOOK THESE!!!

  • See Article 1, Section 3 (c) of the Bylaws and Article II (B) of PAROP. Names of candidates must be listed on Form 3.

IV. PROCEDURE:

  • Your District Councillor and the National Secretary must approve the initiation (or elevation) of a Chapter Honor Member or Faculty Member candidate before a key and certificate can be ordered.
  • After The National Council has approved the candidate, you will receive a letter of approval to initiate the candidate from the National Secretary.
  • Please make sure that your candidate has been approved or your order will be delayed.
  • The initiation ceremonies are more meaningful when the keys and certificates are available for presentation at that time.
  • Submit your orders in plenty of time.
  • Accurate, legible information is required. Ask your Faculty Advisor to check over all completed forms and initial each form.

F. PLEASE CHECK OUT ALL ATTACHED ITEMS FOR ORDER FORMS OF STOLES/COLLARS, BANNERS AND OTHER XE ITEMS THAT ARE SOLD THRU THE NATIONAL OFFICE.
