Dr. Robert L. Henry

Past Secretary/Treasurer and Southwest
District Councillor


Member #11057, initiated in 1956 at West Virginia University (Chapter #26, installed in 1949). Dr. Henry served as Faculty Advisor at the University of Mississippi from 1965-1977 (except 1968-71). He was elected to the National Council in April 1988 at the Purdue Conclave as Southwest District Councillor and has been the National Secretary-Treasurer since 1992. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi (WVU, 1957) and Golden Key (UTA, 1996), and he is an active member of ASCE (Ft. Worth Branch) and ACI at the local and national levels. Dr. Henry obtained a BS in CE in 1957 from West Virginia University, a MS in CE from Iowa State University in 1963, and a PhD in Structural Engineering in 1971 from North Carolina State University. As a structural engineer, Dr. Henry has worked with Bowen Structures from 1990-92, Maxim Engineers from 1987-1990, WJE Assoc. from 1982-1987, and Texas Testing Engineers from 1977-82. He taught in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Mississippi from 1964-77, was Associate Professor, and Assistant Dean of Engineering, and Director of the Engineering Experiment Station, and Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory (NCEL), Port Hueneme, CA from 1959-64.
