Biography

Member #58793, initiated in 1989 at Purdue University (Chapter #11, installed in 1929). Dr. Nelson served as Faculty Advisor for the University of Wisconsin - Platteville chapter from 1992-2003 and at the Norwich University chapter from 1992-1993. He received the North Central District Excellence in Teaching Award in 1995-6. He is a member of ASCE, ASEE, TRB, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Xi. Dr. Nelson received a BS from The United States Military Academy, an MS from Purdue in 1976, and a PhD from Purdue in 1990, following 18 years in the military and in engineering consulting. Presently, he is an Professor of Civil Engineering at UW - Platteville where he teaches courses in construction, materials, and transportation engineering, and conducts research in pavement maintenance and rehabilitation.
