Biography
Dr. Olin K. Dart Jr
National Historian, Southern
District Councillor and Past President
Member #9877, initiated in 1953 at Cornell
University (Chapter #5, installed in 1925). Dr. Dart was elevated to
Chapter Honor Member in 1977 at Louisiana State University Chapter and
served as their Faculty Advisor from 1968-1983. He has served as Southern
District Councillor since 1980, National Vice-President from 1982-1984 and
1998-2000, and National President from 1984-1986 and from 2000-2002. He
helped organize the chapter at LSU (Chapter #67), which was installed in
1968. Dr. Dart is a life member of ASCE and ITE. A member of NSPE and LES,
a retired member of ASEE and an associate member of TRB. He obtained a
BSCE and an MS from Cornell University and a PhD from Texas A&M in
1966. He was a professor at Louisiana State University from 1963-1983 and
retired as Professor Emeritus at the end of 1983. He has since been
employed as an engineering consultant. Dr. Dart is a registered P.E. in
Civil Engineering in Louisiana.
